I had sticker shock when I tried this Liu Bao, but after drinking 3 or 4 other 1980s at much higher prices, this tea was all I could think about.
This tea is a bit of an enigma- it reminds me more of 1970s Liu Bao than any 90s I've ever had, but is processed much lighter.
The seller, a serious collector of (very) high end and expensive Liu Bao said this tea was processed in a very rare manner (she called it sour processing- might be a translation error) but whatever happened this tea is quite incredible.
Another serious collector friend and expert in Liu Bao said it looked like a non traditional fermentation style of the 1970s- whatever it is, it's good.
I'm still getting to know this tea, so far I have brewed it 4 different times each with slightly different results. It is a highly responsive tea to different variations- all stunning results.
Highly camphorous, smooth and satisfying, this Liu Bao produces a lighter charactered brew than a lot of traditionally fermented styles. It can be brewed thick as oil or thin and highly fragrant.
A must try for anyone serious about Liu Bao.

Storage Instructions
Storage Instructions
Tea likes to be stored in an ambient temperature, away from light, and away from all other fragrant herbs, spices, etc. A designated drawer is good. You can also transfer your tea to a special clay jar for long term storage! If using glass, just make sure it's in a dark place, as the light can irritate Tea!
